TO HAVE MISSED IT
To have Missed it, 2018 depicts my own familiar and yet dizzying journey to relate to my surroundings. It captures the emotional resonance of the surreal, and of uncertainty. The images are emulsion-lifted photographic prints, painted over with shellac-based and acrylic inks. The decayed setting references the timeless activities of seeking meaning and sharing empathy. The distortion and mystery evoke the confusion and struggle in this search. The images are ethereal, presenting the viewer with an alternate reality that still registers as familiar. The somewhat obstructed portrayal of the subject matter and the chiaroscuro light reference earlier photographic styles, especially the turn-of-the-twentieth-century Pictorialists. All together, the subject, setting, style, and technique are meant to offer the viewer an ambiguous and yet harmonious emotional experience. (Cavallerizza Reale, The Royal Stables in Turin, Italy)

I can remember remembering it
The condition of the infinite is not wholly lost
It is gone but it left an impression upon
the soft flesh of my belly
I can’t tell you the shape, but I know that
at one time I could have
if only I'd had words (by Emma Rosenbaum for this series)
